Description

The occitan cross, symbol of Occitania, is a greek cross with equal branches, clechy and voided gold. It appears with the seal of Raymond IV, count of Toulouse in 1211. It shows a solar wheel with twelve spokes, symbolizing the twelve houses of the zodiac. The four branches represent the four seasons of the solar year and each point represents one of the solar months of each of these seasons.
