Aegishjálmur, commonly known as the Helm of Awe. Also known as the Icelandic Magical Sun. It is a an ancient Scandinavian runic viking symbol, one of the most mysterious and powerful symbols in Norse mythology, which protects against the abuse of power and is also used as a symbol of intimidation. Aegishjálmur used to be carved in lead and pressed on one´s forehead. At a glance, the symbol is enough to inspire both awe and fear in an opponent. Mentioned in Eddic poetry, the Helm of Awe was used by Fafnir as a symbol of invincibility. Today it is considered one of the most powerful symbols in heathenism.
