Templars
Officially endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church in 1128, at the end of the First Crusade, the Knights Templar were a monastic military order with the purpose of protecting Christian pilgrims travelling to the Holy Land. This is probably the first time in history a group of secular knights banded together and took monastic vows. It is thought they became the first Warrior Monks. The Templars fought along side Richard The Lion Heart (King Richard I of England) and other Crusaders in the battles for the Holy Lands during this time. These casted in solid high quality nickel- and lead-free pewter pendants, mounted on a black cord, are presented on a card, that describes meaning of the symbol.
